Ms. Hope Murera is the Managing Director of ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company), a leading regional reinsurer in Africa charged with the development of the insurance industry across the continent.

Hope has over 30 years’ working experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa and has led ZEP-RE through its increased focus on and attained market leadership in climate adaptation & resilience programs through (re)insurance.

Ms. Murera is a fierce advocate of closing the protection gap, especially for at-risk communities across Africa and beyond. Her guiding principle, “There is no financial inclusion without insurance”.

Hope chairs the Board of ACRE Africa an ag-tech firm focused on climate resilience for farmers and subsidiary of ZEP-RE and board member at the Global Give Back Circle – a mentorship and empowerment organisation for at-risk girls.

Ms. Murera, a mother of two, is passionate about girl-child education, mentorship and empowerment of women in the workplace evident through her own institution where gender parity has been achieved across all levels with 50%+ representation on the senior management team.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from Makerere University (Uganda), an MBA from IMD Lausanne (Switzerland) and is an alumnus of Stanford Business School where she majored in strategic leadership.
