Eduardo Fábrega is the Chief Executive Officer of ASSA Holdings, S.A. (ASSA), a regional financial services holding company headquartered in Panama, with operations across Central America, Colombia, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. Through its insurance, reinsurance and financial subsidiaries, ASSA plays a leading role in the development of regional markets with a focus on long-term value creation and financial inclusion.
He holds a degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University (Class of 1993) and a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. Eduardo began his professional career at ASSA Compañía de Seguros, S.A. in 1994 and has held multiple executive positions throughout the organization. In 2008, he was appointed Executive Vice President, and in 2018, he became CEO of ASSA.
Eduardo led the expansion of ASSA beyond Panama into Central America and the Caribbean, establishing greenfield operations in Costa Rica following the liberalization of its insurance market and subsequently, launching operations in El Salvador, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. He has also led several landmark acquisitions in the region, including the insurance operations of AIG in Central America, the Panama branch of Assicurazioni Generali and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Costa Rica. He represented ASSA as founding shareholder of JMalucelli Travelers Seguros in Colombia, a surety and casualty insurer later sold to Liberty Mutual Surety. In 2024, he led the integration of Banco de Finanzas and Banco de la Producción in Nicaragua, a strategic move to streamline operations and reinforce financial stability in that market.
He serves as a member of the Board of Blue Marble Microinsurance, a global consortium committed to delivering socially impactful and commercially sustainable insurance solutions to underserved communities. He is also President of Lion Reinsurance Company (Bermuda) and Reaseguradora America (Cayman), Chairman of ASSA Costa Rica, and sits on the boards of multiple subsidiaries and financial institutions, including Banco La Hipotecaria and BANPRO Nicaragua.
Eduardo is an active member of YPO International and the YPO Panama Chapter and serves on the Presidential Advisory Council of INCAE Business School. He was recently appointed to the Advisory Committee of the Central American Healthcare Initiative (CAHI).
He is married to Verónica Cruz, and they have three children. Eduardo enjoys fishing, golfing, and reading, and maintains a healthy and active lifestyle.
