Tripartite Agreement Programme

A collaboration between the IDF, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and UNDP, representing the largest insurance and resilience programme between the UN and industry.

Operationalised in 2020, the programme aims to deliver disaster risk financing solutions to 20 climate-vulnerable countries, co-funded by BMZ through the InsuResilience Solutions Fund and IDF insurance industry members. UNDP supports these projects and provides a technical assistance framework to countries, strengthening governments’ financial risk management capabilities to create an enabling environment and ensure that risk financing solutions are integrated into national financial systems.

IDF insurance industry members committed up to USD 5 billion in risk capacity to back implementation of the agreement.
