IDF-Bridgetown Initiative Strategic Partnership
The IDF-Bridgetown Initiative Partnership, created in 2025, aims to accelerate the integration of insurance into the international financial architecture (IFA) as a key part of the toolkit for enhancing resilience in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies (EMDEs). Not only to withstand the impacts of disasters, but also to unlock greater investment and support their critical development, resilience and growth agendas.
As a first action, the partnership published a paper presenting four mutually reinforcing leverage points for scaling impact, for action by EMDE Governments, Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), insurers and EMDE regulators.
