Ivo Menzinger is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Operating Committee of the Insurance Development Forum and a former Swiss Re Executive.

Ivo started his career as Specialist for natural hazards in 1998 and held various key positions at Swiss Re over the past 28 years, including Head of Sustainability, Emerging & Political Risk Management, Managing Director of Corporate Strategy and Managing Director of Enterprise Steering, reporting directly to Swiss Re Group CEOs. He co-established Public Sector Solutions in 2011 and led Swiss Re’s Emerging Markets strategy efforts as well as its business activities across Asia-Pacific from Singapore until 2015. He then served as Client Executive for Global Accounts and business development activities with governments, development and non-governmental organisations until mid-2017. In addition, he established and led Product Management for public sector business globally. Between 2017 and Q1/2025 he was responsible for Swiss Re’s business with the public sector across Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Ivo has been a long serving member of OECD’s High Level Advisory Board on the Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes (2011-26). He was a Board member of the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce (2022-25) and a Board member of the insurtech start-up ama.zing.world (2018-19).

Ivo holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Environmental Sciences from the Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland (ETH), complemented by graduate studies in the US and post-graduate studies in Costa Rica.
